PS3 to PSP How To: Remote Play

by bkelley on Jun.05, 2010, under Tools

Remote Play on your PSP can give new Life to your PSP. Here is how to do it.

Here are some of the things you can do:

Chat (Video Chat)

  • Message all of your PSN friends from your PS3′s buddy list
  • If you start a new chat just by yourself, the PLAYSTATION Eye adds security camera functionality, you can check out your room
  • Update (12-18-07): You can now hear sound (listen in) via remote play video chat
  • Requires PSP Firmware at least 3.80 and PS3 Firmware at least 2.10
  • Only limitation is that the video doesn’t take up the whole screen so it can be hard to see

Life With Playstation (formerly known as folding@home)

  • Life With Playstation can be remotely operated through the Remote Play feature of your PS3 system
  • When you use this feature, the Folding@home help screen will be specific to your PSP system’s controls
  • Use this screen if you need help in navigating Life With Playstation from your PSP system

Media

  • You can use remote play to access media streamed from your PC
  • This includes live tv streamed to your PSP if you have the right gear
  • If you have a media server such as TVersity, PS3 Media server or MediaTomb you can stream & transcode video/audio/photos to your PS3, while viewing remotely on your PSP
  • You can select “Audio Output” to play your music through your PS3 (PSP acts as remote control)

PLAYSTATION Store

  • Download and install demos remotely from your PSP
  • You can add funds to your wallet and purchase full games and downloadable content as well

Web Browser

  • Allows additional Flash-enabled viewing

Enjoy,
