PS3 and Hulu Plus
by bkelley on Aug.25, 2010, under Tools
Hulu plus is now available as a preview on the PlayStation 3. This is not a FREE preview but still something worth talking about. The PS3 is a very capable video playback device. The addition of Hulu Plus takes it to another level. Now when I say it is not free there is a small cost. Hulu plus is $9.99 a month, you also need to be a PlayStation Plus member which is another $49.95 a year. That works out to about $14.16 a month. Not to bad for a ton of streaming content on your TV.
Hulu Plus is not perfect. Hulu Plus is still lacking some of the TV shows you may like and there are limited commercial interruptions, but it is a pretty good service for on demand content.
Steps to set up the system.
- Go to Hulu Plus and request and invite (still in preview or Beta as we call it). It took me about a week to get my email to sign up.
- Sign up for Hulu Plus for $9.99 a month. This will also get you access on some of your other hardware. You can see a hardware list here.
- Next set up your PS3 (you are already a PlayStation Plus member).
- Go to the PlayStation Store and download Hulu Plus App to your PS3.
- Once that is downloaded and installed go to your Videos Menu on your PS3 and Click on the Hulu Plus App.
- The First time you use the app you will have to supply your Hulu Plus Login.
- There you go all the Hulu Plus content on your PS3.
I have found a lot of old TV series that I used to love, Battle Star Galactica, The A-Team, and a ton of others. There are also new TV series to choose from. Hulu Plus should keep you busy for a long time. Now you can watch you favorite series on demand, without a risky bittorrent download.
